You all know them, so we’ll spare you the fanfare. Here are the “loanees” of yesteryear, “the permies” of today.
Marco Cassetti, 36 – Signed until 2014
Old Italian man returns for one last year. Hertfordshire housewives and facial hair enthusiasts rejoice.
Daniel Pudil, 27 – Signed until 2017
Czech wing-back with genuinely baffling love of Watford signs on for the long-haul. Looks like he’ll be competing with Anya for the spot on the left.
Ikechi Anya, 25 – Signed until 2016
Speedy pan-ethnic speedster back for another three years. Came on leaps and bounds at the back end of the season. Is fast.
Cristian Battocchio, 21 – Signed until 2016
Fantastic counter-attacker took his time to tie up a new deal but should be a key figure in filling the gap left by Nathaniel Chalobah. Big teeth, big heart.
Almen Abdi, 26 – Signed until 2016
First Player of the Season to still be at Watford the following year since 07/08. Ridiculous fact, ridiculously good player. He’s the man.
Joel Ekstrand, 24 – Signed until 2016
Solid Swedish centre back took the longest to return, but he’s here now ready to partner Gabriele Angella at the heart of Watford’s defence.
